SPIDER-MAN BICYCLE

my process: FROM concept to COMPLETION

For over 3 years, I have been the designer for Spider-Man Wheeled goods at Huffy Bicycles.
I will take you through the process of one of my designs: The Huffy Line 12″ Spider-Man.

Identify the Scope

Successful design starts with fully understanding the situation. To begin, I identified the goals, constraints, and challenges of the project. Using that information I created a timeline and focused on the appropriate research. This groundwork ensured that I efficiently used valuable resources and time as I headed into the next phase.

Concept & Present

Next, I dove into generating concepts. My designs undergo several levels of revisions until they are polished and ready to show. Once concepts were completed, I proposed two possible options in a creative presentation. This included a summary of my research in support of the concept.

Prototype & Refine

The concept was then green-lit! It was time to make it real by creating a prototype. Bicycles are made of several different components, so communication is key when collaborating with teams at the factory, industrial designers, and in-house sample teams to pull it all together.

Implement & Evaluate

When the prototype was reviewed and officially adopted, I then complete the critical step of finalizing all files in order for the product to be produced. The process does not stop there, however. I continue to monitor online reviews and information provided by sales in order to improve my design process and skills for future projects.
